Before my grandfather died, he wrote an autobiography for his descendants that laid out the path of his life and the history of our family. The book was titled A Wonderful Journey Through Life. I credit the guidance and wisdom he gave me when I was growing up for helping me lead a wonderful life today.
This website, Power and Purpose, is a book in progress. The articles that make up this site will form many of the chapters of the book that I will ultimately write for my kids.
I chose Power and Purpose as the title because I see the dilemma that our life’s clock presents to us – should we focus on career power and achieving our personal goals, or do we set our dreams aside and devote time fulfilling a more purposeful goal, providing for our kids’ development?
If you are ambitious and want the best life has to offer in the time you have, then this is a complex question. But this book isn’t so much about maximizing our lives as it is about providing guidance for our kids and their lives.
When you look around and see people living powerful and purposeful lives, you may wonder, “how can I help my kid achieve a life like that?” I believe the quote above from Matthew answers this question.
By teaching our kids efficient, straight paths through life, they can find success, build the personal power it takes to achieve their dreams, and fulfill their purpose.
